Window 10 is less secure than Windows 7

US-CERT Coordination Centre warns

The US-CERT Coordination Centre has warned that Windows 7 with EMET offers greater protection than Windows 10.

For those who came in late, EMET is Microsoft's Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit, which is a freeware security toolkit for Microsoft Windows. It provides a unified interface to enable and fine tune Windows security features. It can be used as an extra layer of defence against malware attacks, after the firewall and before antivirus software.

Vole is getting rid of it. It thinks 'many' of EMET's features have been integrated into Windows 10. However, lots of EMET’s features are lacking in Windows 10, particularly the application-level defence options.

Now CERT’s Will Dormann, has called on Microsoft to continue the development of EMET.

Even though EMET reaches end-of-life on July 31, 2018, Dormann advises companies to continue using it beyond this date regardless. He has produced this handy table which shows how much more secure your life would be under Windows 7 with EMET.
