Apple makes another daft move

Believes users will want to give it even more money for nothing

In the middle of a pandemic-fuelled recession, the fruity cargo cult Apple thinks that users will want to give it more money for something stupid.

Yesterday, Jobs’s Mob released a new iPad Pro Magic Keyboard with Trackpad which retails for between $300 and $350, depending on model.

The accessory costs $300 for the 11-inch iPad Pro and $350 for the 12.9-inch iPad Pro.

The Tame Apple Press has done its best to cushion users from Apple’s PR blunder with one magazine saying “it remains to be seen if the price tag is worth it”.

A standard Bluetooth Magic Keyboard is $99 in the US. A Magic Trackpad is $129. While not as convenient, that's still $80 cheaper for what is the same core technology.

Normally a keyboard with such a high price tag might have elicited an eye roll, much like the price Apple put on the wheels for its Mac Pro. But even the Tame Apple Press thinks that during the coronavirus outbreak, it comes across a bit out of touch. Most Apple fanboys are doing their best to stockpile toilet paper and hand sanitiser and don’t have the funds.

To be fair, Apple iPad keyboards have never necessarily been "cheap". The previous Smart Keyboard Folio is priced at $179 and $199 for the 11-inch and 12.9-inch models, respectively.
