Dramatic jump from Helio X20

MediaTek is expected to bring the Helio X30 deca-core in 10nm based devices to the market in the next few months and we've already got some initial numbers where the company compares the X30 with last years Helio X20. 

Catching up, fingers crossed strategy

TSMC is currently manufacturing the MediaTek 10nm, deca core based Helio X30 and it looks like in 2018, TSMC might be ready for 7nm and twelve core SoCs from the same house. 

Despite being unhappy with 10nm process

MediaTek is not having much luck with getting the yields right for TSMC's 10nm process, but it will continue to partner with the foundry to make its next-generation flagship mobile chips.

35 percent better performance at 50 percent lower power

MediaTek has officially introduced the Helio X30 and showcased prototype phones at the Mobile World congress. Helio X30 is a dramatic improvement from the last generation as the new SoC comes in 10nm, Imagination Technology GPU and performs faster with much lower power. 

Bringing deca-core at 10nm

While Mediatek has already talked a lot about its 10nm deca-core Helio X30 SoC back in August last year, it has now officially announced its availability at the Mobile World Congress 2017 currently held in Barcelona.

10-core does the heavy lifting 

Xiaomi is a company that sold over 41.5 million phones in China and the number is even higher when you add markets like, India and the Rest of the World. The company is well known for its mix of MediaTek Helio and Snapdragon products and usually offers the best price performance ratio. 

Key customers were not interested

MediaTek is planning a Helio X30 in 10nm later this year but news from Taiwan indicates that some key customers didn’t order the new flagship 10 core chip. 

Octa-core SoC, 3GB of RAM and 16-megapixel camera

As expected, Meizu has now officially launched its newest mid-range M5s smartphone, featuring a 5.2-inch screen, Mediatek octa-core SoC with 3GB of RAM and a 16-megapixel rear camera.

ITC called in

LG, MediaTek, Sigma Designs and Vizio have all been named in a court case in which AMD is throwing its toys out of the pram in a big way.

Down 14.1 percent sequentially

MediaTek has recently provided its earnings report for Q4 2016 during and managed to see its net profits fall 6.7 percent for the entire year, with gross margin reaching a record low of 35.6 percent.
