There are very few details about the new chip, only that there might be more SKUs. What Fudzilla can confirm, based on multiple conversations we conducted between January and now, this is what AMD calls the Vega 7nm.
AMD has insisted many times that this is a compute chip, the one that that's targeted to compete with Nvidia in the AI market. Back in January at the press event, AMD announced that the Vega 7 (Vega 20) can be expected before the end of 2018. AMD calls this market and products Radeon Instinct, and it has had limited success so far. It remains to be seen if there will be a 7nm Vega for Radeon - gaming market but a Linux driver is an indication of its market aspirations.
The 7nm for the big chip won’t be easy to build and we wouldn't expect great yields, but this would not be the first time that AMD goes after top notch manufacturing process, in order to get closer to its big competitor, Nvidia.
