Zen goes back to its PC roots

Asus surprised observers by not releasing a new ZenFone to be seen at Computex and only showed off four new notebooks.

Some felt that Asus was getting back to its PC roots, others thought that it was a sign the company had been burnt by smartphones.

Asus showed off the new ZenBook Pro which was a slim form factor, Intel Core i7-7700HQ with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti.

The company also announced new VivoBooks meant for the mainstream market. The new VivoBook Pro has Intel's seventh-generation processors and Nvidia's GeForce GTX 1050. The VivoBook  S15 features more modest specs but has Nvidia GeForce GTX 940 discrete graphics to sex it up a bit.

Asus boss Jonney Shih did not reveal any updates to its Zenbo robot, which was the belle of Computex last year. This would mean that Zenbo was just a side project for them.

To be fair Zenbo lacked applications and its appeal was limited to a northern Asian culture which limited it taking off elsewhere.
