MSI unveils new WT72 mobile workstation

US $5,499 price tag and Quadro M5500

Following Nvidia's launch of mobile Quadro M5500 graphics card, MSI has unveiled its newest mobile workstation notebook, the MSI WT72.

Based on a wide choice of CPUs, including the Xeon E3-1505M v5 and that same Quadro M5500 graphics card, the MSI WT72 is a whole lot of notebook, with 17.3-inch FHD or 4K/UHD resolution IPS screen and dimensions set at 428x294x48mm. It is also not that light either as it tips the scale at 3.8kg.

The new MSI WT72 mobile workstation notebook will be available in plenty of SKUs as there is a wide choice on CPUs, including the aforementioned Xeon E3-1505M v5, Core i7-6920HQ and the Core i7-6700HQ, wide choice of memory options, including up to 64GB of DDR4-2133 ECC memory for Xeon CPU or up to 32GB of DDR4-2133 memory for Core i7 options.

The rest of the specifications include a 256GB SSD for main storage and 1TB 7200rpm SATA HDD, Blu-ray optical drive, six USB 3.0 ports, Thunderbolt 3 port as well as standard connectivity options, SteelSeries backlit keyboard, Killer E2400 Ethernet, Dynaudio speakers and more.

This is one of the first mobile workstations with Nvidia GPU that will have a VR-Ready badge but it will also come with a hefty price tag as the base model starts at US $5,499 while it can climb up to US $6,899 for the one equipped with Xeon CPU.
