Windows 7 in 850 grams
MSI has officially launched its second x86 tablet, the Windows 7 based WindPad 110W.

Powered by an AMD Brazos series C-50 APU clocked at 1GHz, the WindPad 110W features 2GB of memory, integrated HD 6250 graphics and impressive connectivity thanks to the AM50 chipset, or fusion controller hub.

The WindPad shipes with 32GB or 64GB of storage and an SD card expansion slot. It also packs WiFi and Bluetooth 3.0 EDR, a USB 2.0 port and mini HDMI out. It features a 10.1-inch 1280x800 IPS capacitive touchscreen and it is rather compact considering the spec. Measuring 271x183x15mm and weighing in at under 850 grams, it is somewhat smaller and lighter than the similarly spec’d Acer Iconia W500.

In a world of Android tablets and iPads, Windows machines with proper x86 processors are few and far between, yet they offer quite a bit more flexibility in terms of software compatibility, although Windows 7 was really not designed with tablets in mind.

The WindPad 110W should sell for $599, which probably means €499 in Euroland.
