It would appear that Vole is following a large number of big tech companies who are aiming to make short term gains by laying off staff. Recent examples include a massive reduction in job openings and laying off 18,000 employees by Amazon, and similar practices by Tesla, Meta, HP, and Twitter.
Vole already fired 1,000 employees last year and is now expected to get rid of 10,000 workers today.
The previous layoff primarily affected the Xbox and Azure divisions, it's unclear if the latest round will be wider in scope. In fact, word from Wall Street is that the actual figure will probably be higher than the one being rumoured. Despite good numbers for the company, Wall Street thinks things will be bleak for Microsoft for about 18 months.
