After years in the doldrums, sales of PCs and servers in Russia is on the increase again.

ISPs and data centres, have resumed placement of orders with Taiwan-based PC and server vendors.

Digitimes said that the Russian market was stagnant since the US and main European countries imposed economic sanctions against Russia over Ukraine issues in 2014. Taiwan-based vendors/makers of PCs, servers and other type of IT hardware have strictly controlled inventory levels in Russia.

However, demand for PCs, servers and other types of IT hardware in the Russia market has appeared to be rebounding, the sources said.

Yandex, the largest search engine in Russia, has released orders for servers for use in data centres with shipments scheduled for the third quarter, the sources indicated.

Taiwan-based server maker AIC indicated that it will set up a business office in Russia in the third quarter to provide services for Yandex, its existing client, and compete for orders from Internet service provider Mail.Ru Group and social network website VK.com.

All the Russians want is certification that the servers are not homosexuals and will not attempt to overthrow the oligarch backed government of Tsar Putin.
