Brings multitasking to the iPad

Apple has released iOS 4.2 for the iPhone and iPad and this 623MB update brings several new features to both platforms.

In an effort to make it somewhat less pointless, Apple has added multitasking support to the iPad, as well as folder support. In addition, the iPad now has more room for apps and it supports AirPrint and AirPlay. The iPhone got the FindMyPhone feature free of charge and did not undergo nearly as many changes as the iPad. Both platforms will stand to benefit from some other neat features incorporated in iOS 4.2.

Safari can now do text search on websites, Mail has been revamped to feature a unified inbox, the keyboard and dictionary now feature dozens of new layouts and languages and users will also be able to set distinct alerts for texts coming from various contacts.

All in all it seems like a worthwhile upgrade, especially for iPad users. [I doubt we have many of those left after Nick's rants. sub.ed.]
