After years of whispers, Xiaomi finally announced its processor codenamed Pinecone and decided to call it the Surge S1. After Apple, Samsung, Huawei, Xiaomi also goes for an in-house processor, but it is positioning itself it to the mainstream market. The first phone to get it is the Xiaomi 5c.

The Kirin 960 is a 16nm SoC, that powered the Huawei Mate 9 and Mate 9 Pro, and is quite powerful, but it seems that Huawei plans a Kirin 970 SoC made using the 10nm FinFET manufacturing process and with obviously faster performance at lower energy consumption.

Qualcomm has already revealed that Snapdragon 835 is officially the world’s first 10nm SoC, and Fudzilla  exclusively posted this in April 2016. At that time, Qualcomm didn't  want to officially talk about the insides of the Snapdragon 835, but a leaked roadmap claims that the new SoC has 4+4 cores based on updated Kryo 200 architecture.
