Baldur's Gate 3 runs on Snapdragon X Elite platform

by on28 March 2024

Should be close to Radeon 780M GPU in terms of performance

Qualcomm has recently made a bold promise that the new ARM-based platform will run most, if not all Windows games, and now we have a chance to check out Baldur's Gate 3 running at solid 30 FPS at 1080p resolution.

At the public demonstration, recorded by colleagues at, Qualcomm's platform ran the game at 1080p resolution and 30 FPS, but, unfortunately, there is no word on the actual specifications or the actual graphics settings in the game. It is not clear if Qualcomm was also using some upscaling technology. In addition to Baldur's Gate 3, Qualcomm was also running Control and Redout II.

Nevertheless, running games on a 4nm 12-core 45W (12W to 80W) ARM-based SoC with Oryon CPU cores and Snapdragon X Elite Adreno GPU is quite an achievement. According to Qualcomm, the GPU should provide a similar performance to the AMD Radeon 780M GPU, seen in AMD's Ryzen 8040 APUs, although the overall performance and the TDP are not detailed. Earlier benchmarks did put it ahead of the AMD Ryzen 7 7840HS, Core i7-13620H, and Apple's M2 Max.
