Western Digital unveils new WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD

One to have for those new gaming handhelds

Western Digital has unveiled its new WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD, an M.2 2230 form-factor SSD aimed at new handheld consoles like the Valve Steam deck, ASUS ROG Ally, and others.

Coming in 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB capacities, the WD_BLACK SN770M sequential performance peaks at 5,150MB/s for read and 4,900 MB/s for write (slightly different for 512GB and 2TB version). The 4K random read and write is set at 740K and 800K IOPS. The endurance rating is at 300, 600, and 1200 TBW for 512GB, 1TB, and 2TB versions, and it is backed by a 5-year warranty. The drive is based on WD's own TLC 3D NAND and includes features like PCIe Gen 4.03, Western Digital's nCache 4.0 technology, and Microsoft's DirectStorage support.

The WD_BLACK SN770M NVMe SSD is available in 500 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB capacities and features Western Digital's 5-year limited warranty. The 500 GB is available now for purchase on Western Digital's online store, etailers, retailers, and resellers for $74.99 (U.S. MSRP). The 1 TB is available now for purchase exclusively on Western Digital's online store and at Best Buy for $109.99 (U.S. MSRP). The 2 TB is available now for purchase exclusively at Best Buy for $219.99 (U.S. MSRP).
