Mushkin launches Pilot M.2 NVMe SSD series

by on10 May 2018

Based on the SM2262 controller and 3D TLC NAND

Mushkin has unveiled its Pilot NVMe SSD series which will be available in M.2 form-factor, based on a Silicon Motion controller paired up with 3D TLC and coming in 120GB, 250GB, 500GB and 1TB capacities.

The Mushkin Pilot SSD series is based on a standard M.2 form-factor and uses Silicon Motion's well-known SM2262 controller with PCIe 3.0 x4 interface and NVMe 1.3, paired up with unknown 3D TLC NAND chips. This combination offers sequential transfer speed of up to 2710MB/s for read and up to 1755MB/s for write, with random 4K performance peaking at 335,000 IOPS for read and 280,000 IOPS for write.

Of course, the actual sequential and random performance depends on the actual capacity so the 120GB version will suffer from low performance, as you can see from the table below.

The entire series will be backed by a 3-year warranty and should become available soon. Unfortunately, Mushkin did not reveal any details regarding the price so we will have to wait to see them on retail/e-tail shelves to get that last piece of information.
