TSMC buys more gear

Expansion in the works

TSMC appears to be planning another huge chip exansion and written cheques to the value of $700 million on semiconductor capital equipment in recent weeks.

According to filings issued by the pure-play foundry with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE). TSMC spent $17.2 million on equipment from Lam Research this follows another huge purchace from Hitachi High-Technologies.

There have been loads of similar filings over the last month which suggesst that TSMC is up to something big. TSMC has made several similar filings in recent weeks. Thus far in December 2015, the company has revealed 13 separate equipment purchases totaling about $771,574,090 which is rather a lot.
