AMD releases 3D printer designs for Fury

Customise your own

In a novel marketing twist, AMD has released 3D printer files to encourage punters to customized Radeon their Fury X designs.

AMD's new Radeon R9 Fury X comes with a customizable front plate that you can change with a 3D printer or CNC machine.

The idea is that anyone wanting to spend $650 on a 4K-friendly GPU might want a customizable front plate, in much the same way that someone who buys an expensive sports car wants a licence plate which says "B1GN08"

Many PC enthusiasts have transparent cases or at least a few windows that show off how much they put under the bonnet of their system. Personalisation the GPU case could give AMD a bit more appeal with the hard core types who are into customisation.

Fury X's front plate is designed to come off. It has just four hex screws fastening the plate to the card so it can come off easily..

The 3D printer files can be downloaded from AMD's site. AMD says it is interested to see what you come up with and plans to highlight some of the coolest designs on its blog.

We can't see it either, but then again we dont own a 3D printer or could afford a card like that in the first place.
