Qualcomm released its quarterly earnings yesterday and in the process the chipmaker confirmed one of its large customers will not use the Snapdragon 810.

A A number of rumours have emerged, suggesting that Samsung is ditching the new chip due to a number of factors. Samsung appears to be focusing on its own Exynos silicon instead. While Qualcomm did not name Samsung as the “large customer” in question, this is more than likely at this point.

Qualcomm CEO Steve Mollenkopf said the Snapdragon 810 is working as expected.

“We are pleased with how it’s performing, there is concern really related to one OEM,” said Mollenkopf.

Although he did not name the OEM, Mollenkopf went on to state that the Snapdragon 810 will still be used in more than 60 devices, including flagships from LG and Xiaomi. HTC is also using the chip in the One M9.

Due to the loss of the unnamed “large customer,” the company reduced its guidance for 2015 by $800 million. As a result, its stocks fell by 8 percent in after-hours trading.
