Periscope 50MP camera not enough for DXOMARK throne
Honor has officially unveiled its new 30 series smartphones, the Honor 30, Honor 30 Pro, and the Honor 30 Pro+, and the flagship comes with 6.57-inch 90Hz OLED panel and Sony's IMX700 50-megapixel main sensor on the rear, but it was not enough to dethrone the Huawei P40 Pro on DXOMARK.
Possibly the best camera but no Google Play service and high price
Huawei has officially unveiled its new flagship Mate 30 series smartphone lineup, once again pushing the envelope in the smartphone camera department, as well as bringing further improvements in display, battery life, performance and other departments, but this time it lacks Google Play service and comes at the highest price tag ever.
With support for 5G as well
It appears that Honor 30 will also come with Huawei's new Kirin 990 SoC, at least according to the latest leak.
Kirin 990 4G is significantly smaller
The Kirin 990 5G was finally announced by CEO Richard Yu today and it is a 10.3 billion transistor three CPU cluster SoC with an integrated 5G. Future phones, including the Mate 30 Pro 5G will use it. A Huawei executive confirmed to Fudzilla that the 4G version of the chip is not merely the same SoC with 5G bit disabled.
Global launch in Munich
Huawei Mate 30 will come earlier than most expected. The company has sent out invitations for a global launch on September 19, just slightly more than two weeks from now.
Huawei, Qualcomm, Apple
TSMC has announced that it is doing a test production of 5nm EUV chips, but real production starts in 2020. A long-term investigation leads us to believe that most chips launching in the latter part of this year or early next year will, unlike the UK, remain on 7nm.
