Stanislav Rzhytsky was the deputy head of the department for mobilisation and was the former commander of the Krasnodar submarine, which has been used to launch missile strikes against Ukrainian cities.
Ukraine has claimed responsibly for his assassination and Rzhytsky’s death was confirmed by Russia’s state TASS news agency which said a police investigation into the killing was underway.
Rzhytsky was fond of posting details of his runs on the exercise app Strava, on which runners record their runs and compete online against other users. It was not as if he saw any need to be quiet about it he has a profile under the name of Stanislav Rzhytsky.
The last run the account posted shows he ran close to Olimp sports complex, the location of the shooting.
It seems he considered that he would never be a target and was fond of running when the park was deserted.
No one seems to have warned Rzhytsky that what he was up to was a little dangerous. One person who liked post about Rzhytsky’s last run was Major General Kyrylo Budanov – the head of Ukraine’s military intelligence.
