Starting at €999 for the Xiaomi 13 and €1,299 for the Xiaomi 13 Pro

Xiaomi has kicked off the Mobile World Congress 2023 with the global launch of the Xiaomi 13 series. Both the Xiaomi 13 and the Xiaomi 13 Pro will be packing Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, and Leica camera systems.

Both Xiaomi 13 series phones were already launched in China late last year, but now these are coming to the global market and MWC 2023 is the perfect place for such an announcement. Xiaomi has somewhat changed the design, compared to the Xiaomi 12 series, including flat edges on the standard Xiaomi 13, as well as a different rear camera island design.

Both phones share the same SoC, flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and carry the same Leica camera branding, although with different sensors.

The Xiaomi 13 is built around a 6.36-inch OLED panel with FHD+ resolution 120Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5 on top of it. The screen peaks at 1900nits and Xiaomi is calling it the Pro HDR display. The phone is also IP68 rated, and Xiaomi has slimmed down the bezels significantly.

The rear camera system is Leica all around, and it gets the main 50MP f/1.8 23mm wide main sensor with PDAF and OIS, backed by a 10MP f/2.0 75mm telephoto with PDAF, OIS and 3.2x optical zoom, as well as a 12MP f/2.2 15mm ultrawide one. The front camera is a 32MP f/2.0 22mm wide one. As it is developed in cooperation with Leica, you get the so-called Authentic Leica experience with Leica Authentic and Leica Vibrant exclusive filters.

Xiaomi 13 has a 4,500mAh battery with 67W wider charging, 50W wireless charging and 10W reverse wireless charging. It also come with all the usual connectivity options, and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC will be paired up with 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage.

The Xiaomi 13 Pro is a whole different beast, and although it still comes with the same 6.73-inch LTPO AMOLED 3200x1400 resolution screen with 120Hz refresh rate and 1900nits of peak brightness (same as the Xiaomi 12 Pro), the rest of the phone is a whole different thing.

Xiaomi 13 Pro does not feature flat edges, but rather standard curved design with aluminum frame Gorilla Glass and Victus at the front.

The rear camera system got the biggest update, as now, you get a whole new three 50MP sensors, behind impressive lenses. The main 50MP one is a 1-inch ultra-large sensor with HyperOIS, or dual Pixel PDAF, Laser AF and OIS, behind a 23mm wide f/1.9 8P lens. The second 50MP sensor is a big update as this one sits behind a 75mm floating telephoto lens with 3.2x zoom and OIS. The third 50MP sensor sits behind a 14mm f/2.2 ultrawide lens with AF.
