Google and Asus release Chromebit

by on18 November 2015

Computer for $85

The Google Asus Chromebit computer stick is officially in the shops with an $85 price tag.

The Asus Chromebit is a small computer on a stick, it connects to a TV or monitor via HDMI and it comes with Google’s Chrome OS. All you need is a monitor with an HDMI and you are sorted.

A Bluetooth keyboard and mouse makes the whole thing completely portable.

Because it runs ChromeOS you are limited to running software on a browser, but that is no big deal if you are on the move.

The device comes with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of included storage, it also comes with a USB port and it features a quad-core Rockchip processor. The latter will do the job but is somewhat of a let-down for the spec.

Chromebit is available from a range of retailers in the US which will include Amazon, Fry’s and NewEgg.

The device will also launch in more countries which will include the UK, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Japan, Australia, Canada, Denmark, Taiwan, New Zealand and Norway.
