Sims on board

BlackBerry has appointed SAP’s John Sims as head of its global enterprise services business in a move to turnaround the troubled outfit.

The global enterprise services division is crucial if Blackberry wants to start selling products to business – which was its bread and butter before the bottom dropped out of its world two years ago. In a statement BlackBerry said Sims will join the company in January. At SAP he was president of SAP's mobile services business.

BlackBerry's Chief Executive John Chen said Sims' extensive experience in transforming businesses will be a tremendous asset to BlackBerry as the company seeks to pull its assets out of the fire. Chen, credited with turning around Sybase in the late 1990s, was taking over as its chief executive, replacing Thorsten Heins.
