According to recently released info from Google, Android 4.0 and up is currently running on 25 percent of devices while Android 2.3.3 still rules with a total of 55.8 percent.
Although the slide shows that Android 4.0 and up are taking a decent part of the cake, unfortunately the Android 4.1 Jelly Bean makes up for merely 1.8 percent. The most part of that 25 percent is going for Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The indisputable king of the hill is still Android 2.3 Gingerbread, while the rest of the active devices are still clinging on to Android 2.2 and earlier versions.
Of course, one can't blame solely Google, as updates for some, if not all smartphones are usually late and some were dropped scratched from the update list. All in all, Google is doing quite well with Ice Cream Sandwich and most popular smartphones are lining up for the latest Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
