Asus-Garmin has announced that its co-branded alliance product that sells under the Nüvifone M20 brand will get a Windows Mobile 6.5 update, including the existing owners.

Asus-Garmin Nüvifone's have drawn quite a bit of attention in this market segment, and although these two phones are practically navigation units with built in phones, they are still quite a catch if you manage to buy them, as neither the Windows Mobile based M20 nor the Linux G60 are currently available in Europe.

The Windows Mobile 6.5 brings quite a few improvements such as large touch-optimized icons, mobile applications thanks to the Widnows Marketplace for Mobile, as well as the Microsoft My Phone service.

According to our info, the Nüvifone M20 with Windows Mobile 6.5 will be available in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, India, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, Czech, Turkey and other markets by the end of 2009, while those that already have one will be able to update it to Windows Mobile 6.5 for free.
