Including an NVMe PCIe M8Se SSD series

Plextor came to the Consumer Electronics Show 2017 in style, unveiling a couple of new SSDs including the high-end NVMe PCIe M8Se series that will be available in both M.2 and half-height PCIe card form factors.

The most interesting product in Plextor's CES 2017 lineup is certainly the new M8Se SSD series that will be based on Marvell's 88SS1093 controller and Toshiba's 15nm TLC NAND. It uses PCIe interface with NVMe protocol and will be available in both M.2 and half-height PCIe card form-factors.

The M8Se SSD series will be available in 128GB, 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities, and offer sequential transfer speeds of up to 2,450MB/s for read and up to 1,000MB/s for write (1,850/570MB/s for the 128GB version) and random 4K performance of up to 210,000 IOPS for read and up to 175,000 IOPS for write.

The entire series is backed by a 3-year warranty with an endurance rating of 80 TBW to 640 TBW.

In addition to the M8Se SSD series, Plextor also unveiled the EX1 Series external SSD that will use USB Type-C interface, be available in 128GB, 256GB and 512GB capacities, and offer transfer speeds of up to 550MB/s for read and up to 500MB/s for write.

Plextor also showed its current M7V line of value-oriented SSDs with standard SATA 6Gbps interface as well as talked a bit about its plans to introduce 3D TLC-based SSDs in Q3 2017.

Unfortunately, Plextor was not ready to talk about the price of its M8Se SSD series just yet as it is scheduled to launch in June 2017 but the EX1 series external drive will sell for US $79.99 (128GB), US $119.99 (256GB) and US $199.99(512GB).
