The cheapest one around

We haven't seen anything new from OCZ in quite a while, and finally today they have rolled out the new Onyx 2, an affordable MLC based drive that will be available as a 120 and 240GB model.

As usual, the Onyx 2 SSD is an 2.5-inch SSD that has a SATA 3.0Gbps interface and features TRIM support. Although the controller wasn't detailed, the write and read speeds were, and this one offers up to 270MB/s for read and 265MB/s for write, while random 4k write performance is at up to 10,000 IOPS.

The key selling point of the Onyx 2 SSD is its price. Bear in mind that we are talking about an SSD that is made with performance/price ratio in mind. The 120GB is listed with a price tag set at €179,90 or US $189.99, while the 240GB can be found listed at €209,90 or US $439.99. This is even cheaper than the previously released first generation of Onyx SSD and the only cheaper SSD that is currently listed is the Kingston's SSDNow V-series which is nowhere near the Onyx 2 in terms of performance.
