Man turns to crack dealing to buy Apple Watch

by on13 March 2015

Daft excuses of our time

A Chinese bloke turned to crime so that he could afford to follow the voices in his head which told him he needed an iWatch.

The government-run Guangzhou Daily story appears to be telling a tale of woe for all those who follow the Apple cult behind the bamboo curtain.

The 21-year-old man from the city was arrested for arranging a crack deal with the hope of using the profits to buy the iWatch. The man, identified only as "Zeng," was accused of hooking up a friend with a methamphetamine dealer, and taking a $480 cut of the payment. Both the buyer and dealer were arrested.

The Apple Fanboy said that he was desperate to get a watch to match his super bendy iPhone 6 when it hits the shops on April 24. Coincidently the cut he took on the drugs deal was exactly the cost of the cheapest model – $480.

This is not the first time that Apple has been the centre of a Chinese morality story about the dangers of selling your soul for a slice of US shallowness. Last year there was a case where a kid flogged a kidney to get an iPad. Bet he is regretting that now. [Still has one kidney left for the Apple Watch Edition. Ed]
