28 different tests done and dusted

Charlie over at the Inquirer got his hands on a Geforce GTX 280 without having to sign an NDA and posted his benchmark results yesterday, something that Nvidia surely isn't too happy about. Charlie has run no less than 28 different tests on the card and compared it to a Geforce 9800 GTX for good measure.

The test system consisted of a Core 2 Duo Extreme X9650 CPU at 3GHz, but there's no mention of motherboard and memory used. Nonetheless, the results are quite impressive with the GTX 280 beating the 9800 GTX to a pulp in most tests.

However, it looks like Nvidia still has a lot of driver tweaking to do, as the card doesn't perform that well in Lost Planet in some resolutions, although saying that, if you intend to splash out on this card, you'll most likely have a screen to match and it looks like this is the performance card for high resolutions.

You can find the benchmark results here.
