Nvidia could be working on yet another RTX 3060

by on08 March 2023

One based on GA104 GPU and with GDDR6X memory

According to the latest rumor, Nvidia might be working on another RTX 3060 graphics card, which would be the fourth version to date.

According to a rumor spotted by Videocardz.com, which comes from T4C Fantasy over at Twitter, who maintains the TechPowerUP GPU database, it appears that Nvidia could be working on a new RTX 3060 which will be based on the GA104 GPU and come with 12GB of GDDR6X memory.

As noted, Nvidia already has three RTX 3060 SKUs, the standard RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 model, based on GA106-300 GPU, the RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6 LHR (Lite Hash Rate) version, based on GA106-302 GPU, and the RTX 3060 8GB GDDR6 model, based on the same GA106-302 GPU.

The use of GDDR6X memory could bring a significant performance boost to the RTX 3060, as the RTX 3060 Ti with the same memory had a 36 percent faster memory bandwidth.

Of course, it is left to be seen if this will actually launch to retail/e-tail or if it is just an internal engineering sample.
