Nvidia gobbles up add-in board share

by on26 November 2019

While market continues to soar

Jon Peddie research said that sales of add-in boards boomed in the third quarter of this year, increasing by 42 percent compared to the third quarter.

And the chief firm beneficiary of the $2.8 billion market was Nvidia. Its market share for the quarter was 73 percent.

According to Peddie, the previous fiscal quarter allowed Nvidia to shunt out old products through its channel sales, and ship new products at the end of the quarter.

And because there's only two major players in this market, the loser was AMD, which saw its share fall to 27.8 percent. Last year the add-in board market was worth $15 billion.

Of course, the third quarter is when much of this IT gear is sold.
