In Beta SDK

After months of promises, ATI just launched the “first complete OpenCL™ development platform” but again in beta version. This driver is the part of ATI Stream SDK V2.0 that is, as we said, in its Beta stage.

This release is fully compatible with OpenCL 1.10 specification and supports AMD GPUs as well as X86 multi core CPUs that are supporting SSE3 or higher.

Now the developer of AMD supported open source Bullet Physics can start developing it on ATI drivers instead on Nvidia drivers. Let’s hope that ATI can catch up with Nvidia which is highly unlikely, as Nvidia started investing a lot of time and engineering, not to mention money, in GPU computing some three years ago.

All Radeon 4x00 and 5x00 series are supported as well as some FirePRO and FireStream card, including some 4x00 series mobile Radeons.

The downside is that you need to use some beta drivers as this SDK won't work on your currently installed Catalyst.

You can get it for Windows XP, Vista, 7 as well as for Linux, here.
