Help CPU sales

John Byrne, the first Scottish Vice President of AMD, just got promoted. He is currently the number two man at ATI, after Rick Bergman and Jon did a good job with Radeon 3000 and 4000 sales, and eventually managed to beat Nvidia at its own game.

Since the graphics sales have picked up tremendously, AMD now thinks that it better start selling CPUs, as this is the area that makes more money and suffers even more. It won’t be an easy task but upcoming Phenoms and Athlons might have its space in the market and John will try his best to sell them.

The biggest challenge for all of them is that consumer confidence is down and we expect that 2009 might be a bad year for almost any kind of sales, but with good products and smart pricing this might be a big opportunity.

Overall, we think that the Scotsman can do this job and we wish him a lot of luck.
