THQ killed off as sales didn’t meet expectations
THQ has confirmed that the franchise known as Red Faction that was developed by the publisher is now at an end. The company has announced that the sales of the latest Red Faction: Armageddon did not meet expectations despite a heavy and hard push from THQ.

Reviews of the Red Faction games developed by Volition (which is the studio best known for the Saints Row franchise) in the Red Faction series were not bad. In fact, they were clearly better than much of the latest junk that has been coming out from a number of publishers lately. While reviews were never perfect, in the four title run the series continued to show promise and potential, but it just never seemed to be embraced by players.

THQ has been having a rough road recently, with a number of titles not doing the numbers that the company expected. In Q2 the company has a number of titles that the company is hoping will turn things around, the biggest of which is Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine in which the company has a significant investment. The company will also be releasing some core children’s titles the likes of which have always done pretty well for the company.

Upcoming releases include a Penguins of Madagascar game as well as Barbie Jet Set and Style. THQ is planning on supporting these upcoming releases with an extensive marketing effort to get the word out and sales up, or at least that is the plan they are talking about.
