The upcoming release of the Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D apparently has a bit of a surprise in store from Nintendo. Sources say that Nintendo is planning to make initial shipments to retailers much smaller than expected.
Retailers will be limited to a specific number of copies, no matter their size. Retailers will not be able to re-order the title for a yet undefined time period.
The 3D remake of Ocarina of Time has drawn a lot of attention, but Nintendo’s strategy is a bit puzzling; however, it is certain to ramp up demand among 3DS users for the title. It is unknown why Nintendo has apparently decided to move forward with this strategy, and as you can imagine, retailers are not happy.
