DLC for Heavy Rain on hold

Instead will deliver a Move update

Heavy Rain, the popular PlayStation 3 game from developer Quantic Dream, appears to not be getting the promised “Chronicles” downloadable content. Instead, the developer is focused on a patch that will update the game to support the Sony Move input controller.

The future of the actual download content might be in jeopardy as the delay is being described by the developer as an “indefinite hold,” which according to our sources was encouraged by none other than Sony. Sony is the driving force behind the developer working on adding Move control support to the title.

From what we have been able to understand the original plans were to provide add-on episode content for Heavy Rain that was to be called the “Heavy Rain Chronicles” that would be sold as downloadable content. (Xbox 360 owners might find the strategy similar to what the company has planned for Alan Wake.) Now, when this Move patch does arrive for Heavy Rain it will be offered as a free update to the software. Once the Move support update is completed the developer is likely to instead be on to their next project, according to our sources.
