Activision apparently hopes to get you more excited about Guitar Hero 6 by dropping the number off the end of the title. Going forward, Activision apparently plans to go numberless, with the next installment in the franchise to be known as “Warriors of Rock,” according to our sources.

Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock is still planned for a holiday release for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii platforms. While the entire set list is yet to be known, sources suggest that it will not all be rock for this release despite the suggestive name. From what we hear Activision hopes that buyers understand that this is not just the standard next release in a series, but rather a new release in the franchise.

We are not sure if people are going to buy into it because it still sounds like it is Guitar Hero, but with only a bit more of a return to the rock roots of the first games in the franchise.
