Will team with EA for new franchise release

In a move that is certain to upset Sony fanboys, sources tell us that Insomniac Games will be going multi-platform with their next release. Insomniac who is best known for such franchises as Ratchet & Clank, Spyro the Dragon, and Resistance has struck a deal with Electronic Arts that will see their next yet to be announced title arrive for the Xbox 360 as well as the PlayStation 3. (Insomniac will retain the rights to the intellectual property with this agreement with EA, according to those claiming knowledge of the deal.)

The decision to go multi-platform has more to do with economics than anything else, according to our sources. While development costs will go up, having a much larger base of consoles to sell your titles to is attractive, as it is likely to mean a significant revenue increase.

While many suspected that Insomniac would announce what they are working at E3, the whispers we hear seem to indicate that the company will not be letting the cat out of the bag just yet. According to those in the shadows, the company is apparently working on a couple of projects with multiple teams and they are not ready to make an announcement yet. No one seems to know exactly what Insomniac might be working on; but it is a safe bet that it will be a new franchise rather than just a one-off, multi-platform release.
