Electronic Arts has rewarded developers who wrote the code for the  surprise hit Boom Blox by handing them their p45s and pink slips. Boom Blox was the Steven Spielberg Wii puzzle tile, which was seen as a dud but went on to sell over 450,000 copies.

EA said that the restructuring was a routine event and not in any way related to EA's announced restructuring.

What EA has done is move the project from EA Los Angeles, to the EA Bright Light Studio in Guildford, UK, where the Harry Potter franchise
and several of the Hasbro properties are developed.

All eligible employees will receive severance and outplacement assistance and it is not clear how many people will be given their marching orders.

The original Boom Blox was released in 2008, and a sequel was released the following year.
