Looks like laws might be coming

Australia
might start making a few laws to protect users from being screwed by downloading charges on their expensive Apple gadgets. The latest victim is a South Australian member of Parliament who was hit with a $10,000 bill on his taxpayer-funded phone after his son downloaded football games.

Upper house MP Russell Wortley, whose bills normally total about $200, got a bill oever the weekend. It turned out that his 13-year-old son had downloaded free games on his father's new iPhone without permission. However while the iPhone can download the applications, his phone plan did not.

He also added there was something dodgy about he billing system that charged his son $4000 for playing a game for one hour. He has complained to the Communications Minister Stephen Conroy, who said he would follow it up with the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA).
