Businesses are not safe

Enrique Salem, president and CEO of Symantec, owner of Norton and Message Labs has been telling AP that the business of cybercrime had become so professional, that no solution was protected from future advances in criminal attacks.

Salem said that with countries attacking countries, criminals attacking individuals, companies have not got a bats chance in hell of dealing with the problem. What? You mean this Symantec software I installed will not stop my company from being a victim cyber crime?

Er, well... Salem said the company was forever working on analysing new patterns of attack and second-guessing the criminal gangs' next moves in order to inoculate its users, so there is some merit in buying its products.

So in other words Symantec is useful because it has staff who are working on the problem, however organisations with implemented network security solutions could not afford to move on to the next project. They must treat security as an everyday priority, he said.

What Salem was trying to say that there's no way that IT manager can rest, they will become more of a target if they drop their guard.
