A bloke has come up with a computer mouse which is quite literally a wind-up.

Ahmet Bektes has made a wireless mouse called Sustail. Instead of draining your computer or a battery this one generates its own power by having you wind it up.

There is no worry about losing the key either as it is stored under the mouse body when you don't need it. It is an ideal tool for those who want to use renewable energy particularly as they work out a way of hacking climate scientists' mail servers.

The only downside is that that it is fairly noisy and it produces sound as it winds down like the wind-up toys. The big idea is to warn users that the charge level is low.

Apparently it is a bit annoying. We are yet to see a review that tells us how long a charge will last or how much it will cost. However there is a picture here.
