ARM expects to see the market share of digital TVs
adopting ARM core IP to surpass 50 per cent in 2012.
Jim Wallace, director of home and emerging solutions at
ARM claims that the share among set-top boxes (STBs) will be even higher. ARM is making plans to expand the market share of
products licensing its IP in the DTV and STB segments. This will put it in hard
marketing combat with MIPS Technologies.
MIPS is cooperating with foundry service providers to
extend applications for its platforms to STBs, TVs, MIDs, VoIP
devices and other digital consumer electronics, according to previous
reports.
