The Lunar Lake processors will be updated with Copilot+ features, including Recall as soon as they become available. Following the success of the Intel Core Ultra processors, Intel is on track to distribute over 40 million AI PC processors this year, Lunar Lake included.
Intel is billing Lunar Lake as a revolutionary mobile processor for AI PCs, delivering more than triple the AI performance compared to its predecessors.
Lunar Lake chips are expected to manage 40 NPU tera operations per second (TOPS), so next-gen processors are poised to provide the necessary capabilities for the forthcoming Copilot+ experiences.
In addition to the advanced NPU, Lunar Lake will also offer over 60 GPU TOPS, culminating in more than100 platform TOPS, per the company's statement.
As a component of the AI PC Acceleration Programme, Intel is collaborating with over 100 independent software vendors to refine AI PC experiences across various sectors, including personal assistants, audio effects, content creation, gaming, security, streaming, video collaboration, and beyond.
Microsoft's Corporate Vice President of Windows + Devices said: "The introduction of Lunar Lake is set to usher in significant foundational enhancements in areas such as security and battery life, amongst others, owing to our intensive collaborative efforts with Intel. We are keenly anticipating the arrival of Lunar Lake on the market, equipped with a 40+ TOPS NPU that will facilitate the widespread deployment of Microsoft’s Copilot+ experiences when they become available.”
Embracing AI holistically necessitates hardware advancements and a solid software support framework. As an integral part of the AI PC Acceleration Programme, Intel collaborates with over 100 independent software vendors to elevate the AI PC experience. This includes enhancements in various domains such as personal assistants, audio effects, content creation, gaming, security, streaming, video collaboration, he said.
