Nokia cries foul over patents

Digital gabfest and meme emporium, Reddit is all dolled up for its grand stock market debut, but Nokia has thrown a spanner in the works.

The Finnish former rubber boot maker reckons Reddit's been a bit naughty with their patents and had a last-minute wobbler.

Nokia Technologies, the lot that handles its legal bits, has penned a snotogram to Reddit. They're accusing the social media giant of pinching ideas. Reddit's playing it cool, though, saying they'll have a butcher's at the claims.

This could not happen at a worse time. Reddit's about to go public, hoping to rake in the dosh by the bucketload.

The Reddit bigwigs are bracing for a bumpy ride, expecting more of these patent squabbles. And it's not just Nokia getting shirty – there's a whole gaggle of what they call 'non-practising entities' (trolls) ready to pounce for a payday.
