Kids unhappy with TikTok bans

Apparently it has become the home of the teen left

While US President Donald Trump is trying to shut TikTok down, or hand over control to one of his chums, Daily Dot thinks the reason might not be China's spying at all but because the site has become a place for teen lefties to complain about their parent's right wing toxic beliefs.

Apparently TikTok was a place where teens and young adults can come to terms with their conservative upbringings, vent against conservative parents, and, when they’re feeling particularly feisty, coordinate efforts to bring down fascism.

While you could say that social media platforms have always been a place for kids to moan about their parents or schools, TikTok both gives literal voice to Gen Z complaints and allows them to express their frustrations in perhaps more creative ways than other social media.

Claudia Conway, the 15-year-old daughter of Trump counselor Kellyanne Conway, has become one of the most well-known faces of teen dissent against the Trump administration, and certainly when it comes to zoomers going against their ultra-conservative parents.

While most of her TikToks have been deleted at this point, likely after some contentious conversations with her parents, Claudia held nothing back when it came to espousing her liberal beliefs, showing support for Black Lives Matter, and denouncing Trump at every opportunity.

But apparently she was not the only one and an entire generation of young people who are so willing and able to expose their parents’ toxic beliefs and have these conversations openly — even if primarily through comedy and trying their best to shrug it all off — is unquestionably a promising thing.

Daily Dot thinks this is a really good reason for Trump wanting to ban TikTok. But if this is the case, it is probably more to do with gettting support from the kids parents.  Those teens who are old enough to vote are unlikely to do so, and those who are too young will be a problem for another president.
