Dell has unveiled its Visor Windows Mixed Reality headset back in August at IFA 2017 and finally the device is available for pre-order directly from Dell.

In case you missed it before, the Dell Visor VR HMD (Virtual Reality Head Mounted Display) is based on Microsoft's Windows Mixed Reality (WMR) platform and features two 2.89-inch 90Hz 1440 x 1440 LCD panels for a full 2880x1440 resolution picture. The screen part can be raised to let the user see the real world without actually removing the headset, which is a nice touch and the entire thing features cushions with an adjustable strap so it should be fairly comfortable.

While it does not ship with its own controllers, it supports Microsoft’s Mixed Reality Controllers which can be ordered as a bundle. Of course, if you want to play games that do not support controllers, you will need an Xbox One controller. Dell was also quite keen to note that users will be able to access games and other MR content via the Windows Store at launch and Steam Store in the future.

Currently, the Visor is available directly from Dell.com, with a price set at US $349.99 for the headset and US $99.99 for the controllers, while the bundle is available for US $449.99. In the UK, the same kit is available from PCWorld.co.uk for £429.99. According to Dell, these will start shipping in mid-October so we guess we will see some of the first impressions soon. Dell also noted that the Visor HMD will be available from BestBuy as well as directly from Microsoft in the near future.
