LG pulls smartwatch

Only the market for a week

LG has cancelled its latest smartwatch, the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE after just six days on the market due to a “hardware issue.”

LG said the problem came up late in the quality assurance process for the LG Watch Urbane 2nd Edition LTE. Engineers were made aware of a hardware issue which affects the daily functionality of the device.

“After further investigation, the decision was made to cancel the rollout of the Urbane 2nd Edition LTE due to the complicated nature of the issue."

LG company hasn't gone into detail about what exactly is wrong with the device, but there was "no danger to the user” which was a great relief. We don’t think the world is ready for their watches to kill and maim them.

LG told both Ars and Android Police that it had not yet decided if the device would ever be for sale again.

The Urbane 2nd Edition LTE was Android Wear's first watch with built-in LTE and the first and so far only Android Wear watch to ship with Marshmallow.

As you would expect, the watch is deleted from LG's site. We haven't heard of a recall yet, but if you happened to buy an Urbane 2nd Edition LTE, it might be a good idea to take it back to the shop before it does what ever it is that is so bad that the product may not see the light of day. Or you could collect it. It might even be valuable one day as there will not be many around.
