Fanboys caught by the billabongs

Apple fanboys in Australia are having problems with a hacker who has found an easy way to steal cash is to hijake their iPhones or MacOS. The hacker who goes by the handle Oleg Pliss, holds their iOS and Mac devices for ransom, demanding $100 to relinquish control. Affected Apple devices have been locked through Find My iPhone, a tool that lets users track their enrolled iOS and Mac devices, basically rendering them useless. Well, more useless than they were before.

"Device hacked by Oleg Pliss. For unlock device, you need send voucher code by 100 usd/eur (Moneypack/Ukash/PaySafeCard) to email: for unlock", reads the attacker's message.

Apparently if you pay your lunch money to the cyber bully he sends you a passcode to regain access. Of course you could restore the device to factory settings through iTunes, and restoring the latest backup.

One fanboy, who paid up, has been hacked twice. What he does not understand is how he did a virus check and found nothing wrong with his computer. Of course you did, it had an Apple logo on it which means that any hacker who can be bothered can turn it over.

Needless to say the same Apple which designs such super secure software is on the ball. It gave one user a case number and told him to call the police. A case number! There are Apple fanboys out there who would dream of getting a case number, it is much more useful than actually having a working computer.

It is starting to like the hackers took down one Apple ID and found that the same password was being used on multiple cloud accounts, of which one was hijacked.
