Asustek will launch the Eee Monitor, a PC built into a monitor designed to rival Apple's iMac, in September.

The CEO of Asustek, Jerry Shen, said that the Eee Monitor will be a stand-alone monitor and PC similar to the iMac.   However, it will be much cheaper and beat the iMac on price.

It is the first time that the maker of the Eee PC has gone head to head with Apple in the designer space.  It must be feeling confident after the runaway success of its cut-price Eee PC.
