Rambus signs licensing deal with Broadcom

by on23 December 2011

All previous claims resolved

Rambus has signed a patent licensing deal with Broadcom resolving all previous claims related to its technology.

Rambus will license its patent for integrated circuits used in chips made by Broadcom.  It did not say how much Broadcom will have to pay for making Rambus laywers go away or which patent technology would be part of the agreement. The company's shares rose eight percent after the announcement having lost almost 60 percent in value since last month after losing a $4 billion antitrust lawsuit against Micron and Hynix this year.

Rambus has been a bit of a patent troll lately. Last year it moaned to the International Trade Commission against Broadcom. Still Christmas is a time of peace and goodwill and it seems the outfit has buried the hatchet.
